JAGS TO HOST WESTERN ILLINOIS ON SENIOR DAY

IUPUI will face Western Illinois on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will host Western Illinois in its final home contest of the 2016 season on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m.. The Jags need to finish with a flurry of wins and need some help in some other outcomes to earn a spot in the four-team Summit League Tournament.

IUPUI students are admitted for FREE to all home soccer matches this season and adult tickets are just $5 each. Fans are also encouraged to bring a canned food item to benefit the on-campus Paws Pantry and those doing so will receive discounted admission.

Following Sunday's match, the IUPUI Athletics Department will recognize this year's seven women's soccer seniors - Samantha Bathurst, Sierra Bryant, Alyssa Fox, Carley Lombard, Tori Minnich, Catherine Raster and Maddie Riedford.

LAST TIME OUT

IUPUI was on the wrong side of a 6-1 pasting at Oral Roberts last Sunday after trekking to Tulsa on Saturday following a double overtime affair with Omaha on Friday night. ORU scored twice before halftime and quickly blew the margin out of hand early in the second half.
IUPUI's lone goal came from Leia Peterman in the 88th minute, thanks to a Hayley Shelton assist. Junior goalie Catherine Schmidt was victimized for four goals and made seven saves before giving way to freshman Sophia Lipka, who made two saves and yielded two goals. Lipka had to make a cameo as a field player in the first half as the short-handed Jags had injuries stack up after Head Coach Chris Johnson had exhausted the bulk of his subs before intermission.

ON THE POSTER
All seven seniors will be featured on Sunday's poster, which are free to fans in attendance and are distributed at the main entrance off New York Street.

The IUPUI women's soccer team was honored with the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for posting a grade point average of at least 3.0 for 2015-16. Johnson's team posted an incredible 3.55 GPA last year and it was the eighth straight year the program was honored.
