SWIMMING TO HOST EIU, BUTLER, WRIGHT STATE THIS WEEKEND

The teams will face EIU/Butler on Friday, followed by a dual-meet with Wright State Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's and women's swimming teams will return to the pool this weekend (Oct. 21-22), as the Jags will host three teams in two days of dual-meets.  Friday, both teams will face Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. EST in the Natatorium while the women's half will also dual Butler.  Saturday, the Jags welcome Wright State to the Nat, the final meet in the month of October.

Both sides of the team have paddled out to terrific starts for the 2016-17 season, as the Jags swept the University of Indianapolis followed by IUPUI taking the top-three spots in both the men's and women's pentathlons against Western Illinois.

Jon Stoller and Eline van den Bossche were the overall winners of the pentathlons, as their success across five events combined with their contributions against UIndy earned them CollegeSwimming's Conference Swimmers of the Week. Stoller completed the five-event pentathlon in a combined time of 4:24.17, while van den Bossche finished with a 5:06.34 time.  Stoller finished top overall in the 100 Breast and 100 IM events, while van den Bossche won the 100 Back and 100 IM on the women's side.

For the Panthers, the meet with IUPUI marks their first action of the season, while the Bulldogs will compete in their third meet.  Butler has also hosted a double-dual in Fishers, Indiana, and competed in the 2016 WVU Meet in Morgantown, West Virginia.  The Bulldogs will also return to compete in the 2016 House of Champions, hosted in the Natatorium in November.

Wright State will be competing in its fourth meet of the year, having lost their only dual-meet on both sides to Miami-Ohio Saturday (Oct. 8).  The teams also competed at the Butler Double-Dual in Fishers, Indiana, and the Dennis Starks Relay in South Bend, Indiana.

This year, the Jags bring back four seniors from the women's side and five from the men's.  The veteran lineup includes standouts Stoller and Maranda Buha, who has been an All-Summit League performer in all three of her previous seasons.
