CHICAGO - The IUPUI men's soccer team opened 2015 competition with a 0-0 draw against UIC on Wednesday night (Aug. 19). The match went into penalty kicks, as agreed upon by the two coaches, where the Jags were outscored 3-2.
A strong defensive effort stifled the UIC attack during the 90-minute regulation time as the Flames attempted seven shots only to come away empty-handed. The Jags attempted four shots of their own as senior goalkeeper
Eduardo Cortes registered a game-high four saves in the stalemate. Virtually every player on Head Coach
Isang Jacob's roster got to see the pitch.Â
The exhibition match was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18 before heavy rains caused the game to be moved.Â
IUPUI will travel to Evansville on Sunday, Aug. 23 for a 6 p.m. exhibition with the Purple Aces before kicking off regular season play at Detroit on Friday, Aug. 28 at 12 p.m.Â
