SHEPLER-TUCKER TIES CAREER ASSIST MARK, BUT JAGS FALL IN OVERTIME

Senior Kalli Shepler-Tucker earns her 15th career assist in loss at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha's Lydia Holtmann smashed a drive from 18 yards out past IUPUI goalie Catherine Schmidt in the 102nd minute to give host Omaha a 2-1 double overtime victory over the Jaguars at Caniglia Field on a chilly Friday night (Oct. 9). Holtmann's goal overshadowed a career mark for IUPUI senior midfielder Kalli Shepler-Tucker, who delivered her 15th career assist earlier in the match, tying for the program's all-time mark.

The loss snapped the Jaguars' four-game undefeated streak and kept IUPUI (5-5-2, 0-1-1 Summit) winless to start Summit League play.

Omaha (4-7-2, 1-2 Summit) took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute as Chelsi Rohloff beat Schmidt for her fifth score of the year. However, the Jaguars answered before halftime to make it even by the break. Shepler-Tucker played a ball over the top of Omaha's back line, freeing Krissy Kirkhoff for a breakaway. Kirkhoff finished the attempt for her team-high eighth score of the year, slotting a shot past Omaha's Katlyn Schochenmaier. Shepler-Tucker's assist was her first of the season and pulled her even with former standout midfielder Sheri Levack for the all-time record.

The score remained tied through regulation, despite a pair of Omaha's second half attempts hitting the crossbar. Rohloff hit the bar in the 55th minute and Holtmann pinged the bar in the 75th minute.

The Jaguars started the first overtime period with a burst as Samantha Bathurst put a header on frame, trying to loop a shot over Schochenmaier to the far post. IUPUI also appeared to get the game-winner in the 99th minute, but had a score called back to an offsides flag.

At the start of the second overtime, Kirkhoff set the table by rolling a cross past Schochenmaier and through traffic, but no IUPUI attacker was able to get a finishing touch. Omaha took advantage of the missed opportunity and immediately cashed in at the other end.

A give-and-go delivery led to Holtmann being left unmarked deep in IUPUI territory. She unloaded a shot from near the top of the box, easily beating Schmidt for the game-winner.

Omaha outshot the Jaguars 21-8 overall and and 8-4 on frame while holding the Jaguars without a corner kick. Rohloff led all players with five attempts while Kirkhoff had a team-high three tries for the Jaguars. Schmidt made six saves in goal in defeat.

The loss was the Jaguars' first-ever to Omaha after having won the first three meetings in the series coming into play.

IUPUI will head home to continue Summit League play, hosting Oral Roberts next Friday night (Oct. 16) at 7:00 p.m.. Admission is free and open to the public although regular university parking rates will apply.
