CHARLESTON, Ill. - After a grueling week of training, the IUPUI men's and women's swimming teams still had enough in the tank to put up dominant efforts against Eastern Illinois on Saturday (Oct. 17), easily outdistancing the Panthers in a dual meet. Head Coach Matt Bos' men's team coasted to a 138-65 win while the women's squad posted a 142-60 victory.

"I was really pleased with the energy we had today," Bos said. "EIU is not an easy place to swim, especially in mid-October. We saw some huge improvements from last week and I expect us to keep getting better and better with racing as the fall continues."

Meanwhile, IUPUI sent its divers north to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiates, hosted by Purdue University at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Freshman Krisztian Somhegyi highlighted the five men's entries, placing third overall off both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Somhegyi notched a score of 317.15 off the 3-meter board, trailing only a pair of Purdue divers. The same held true off the 1-meter board where he finished his six dives at 293.65. Fellow freshman Mitchell Matsey was fourth off both boards while Josh Carmichael was sixth in both.

Bailey Wills led IUPUI's two female entrants, placing fifth off the 3-meter board and sixth off the 1-meter board. She finished with 237.05 points off the 3-meter and 236.95 off the 1-meter. Melissa Berger was seventh off the 3-meter and eighth off the 1-meter.

IUPUI will be back in the water on Oct. 30 when they swim against the University of Cincinnati at Keating Aquatics Center at 5:00 p.m..
