vs. NKU (9/5 - 6 p.m.):Â Live Statsat EIU (9/7 - 2 p.m.):Â Live StatsINDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will play host to Northern Kentucky (1-1-1) on Friday (Sept. 5) night at the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium as the campus continues the 2014 Weeks of Welcome. The Jaguars will cap the two-game weekend at Eastern Illinois with a 2 p.m. Eastern kickoff on Sunday (Sept. 7).Â
Friday's festivities will begin with the RecFest at the Campus Rec Outdoor Facility, just north of The Tower from 2-5:00 p.m.. From there, there will be a campus-led JagProwl at 5:00 p.m., ultimately culminating with students attending the soccer match at 6:00 p.m..
IUPUI (1-3-1) has had two solid showings on its home field this season, defeating SIU Edwardsville 2-1 before falling to Xavier 2-0 earlier this week. The Jaguars had a couple of near misses in the loss to Xavier as sophomore
Tori Minnich had an apparent goal called back to a foul call and freshman
Leia Peterman ripped a header off the crossbar in the second half. Sophomore
Nicole Kulovitz made six stops in the loss, falling to 0-3 on the year.Â
The Jaguars have gotten a goal each from
Alyssa Fox,
Taylor Heidorn and Minnich so far this season, while
Meghan Day and
Grace Perkowitz each have an assist. Freshman
Krissy Kirkhoff leads The Summit League with 17 shot attempts in the season's early going.Â
Freshman
Catherine Schmidt leads the IUPUI goalies with a 1.17 goals against average as she and Kulovitz have split the minutes nearly evenly through five matches.Â
NKU opened the season with a 4-0 win over Eastern Illinois before playing Morehead State to a 1-1 draw. The Norse dropped their first road match of the season last weekend, falling 6-4 at Fort Wayne. Macy Hamblin leads NKU with three goals and Kelsey Laumann has a team-high three assists. Tanner Ruberg has a 1.77 GAA and 13 saves in three starts in net for the Norse, including the shutout of EIU. Friday's match marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools.Â
EIU is 0-4 to start the 2014 season, having lost three home matches and the road match at NKU to open the season. Chris Reed has EIU's lone goal thus far, scoring off a Meagan Radloff assist in a recent 3-1 loss to Louisiana Tech. Emily Hinton has played every minute in goal for the Panthers, registering a 3.16 GAA and 29 saves.Â
IUPUI is 0-4-1 all-time against EIU, losing the first four meetings in the series before the two teams played to a 2-2 double overtime tie at Kuntz Stadium on Sept. 2, 2011. IUPUI is 0-2-1 all-time against the Panthers in Indianapolis.Â
