BROOKINGS, S.D. - Coming off one of its best efforts of The Summit League schedule, the Jaguars will have a quick turnaround when they take on South Dakota State (13-10, 5-3 Summit) inside Frost Arena on Saturday (Feb. 8) at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. The Jaguars took the league's preseason favorite, North Dakota State, to the brink on Thursday night before falling 66-60 in Fargo.

Senior center Mitch Patton led the Jaguars with 16 points and eight boards and classmate Ja'Rob McCallum added 15 points. The Jaguars trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half, but used a late rally to cut it to a one-possession game in the final minute. However, the Jaguars were unable to get a defensive stand in the final minute and P.J. Hubert missed on a trey with 14 seconds left that would've made it a one-point game. From there, Summit League Preseason Player of the Year Taylor Braun was able to leak out for a game ending dunk, setting the final six-point margin.

NDSU junior guard Lawrence Alexander led five Bison in double-digits with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and Braun finished with 14 points. Collectively, NDSU shot 51.8 percent from the floor, despite going 0-of-10 from three-point range. It was the first time in IUPUI's Division I history they held an opponent without a three-point make, spanning more than 450 games.

It was the first time in Summit League play that they Jaguars made more threes than the opposition (7-0) and outrebounded their opponent (32-28). IUPUI's seven threes made tied a season-high, while McCallum's five connections were the most by an IUPUI player this season.

IUPUI also enjoyed its second perfect night at the foul line this season, hitting all 11 attempts to climb to 11th nationally in free throw percentage. Collectively, IUPUI is shooting 75.8 percent at the charity stripe this season.

South Dakota State throttled Summit League leader Fort Wayne on Thursday night, 79-51, behind 35 points and 10 boards from the duo of Jordan Dykstra and Cody Larson. The frontcourt duo teamed to hit 15-of-22 field goal tries and the Jackrabbits shot an even 50 percent in the victory. Senior swingman Chad White added 15 points on 5-of-7 from three.

Dykstra and Larson were a collective wrecking ball against the Jaguars in the game in Indianapolis on Jan. 9, combining to finish with 48 points and 15 boards in that contest. IUPUI trailed 73-70 with 3:14 left after Khufu Najee stroked a three, but SDSU closed on a 13-0 run to win, 86-70. Ian Chiles, who has missed the last four games due to injury, led four Jags in double-digits with 21 points, and Najee chipped in 15 points and seven caroms.

SDSU leads the all-time series between the teams, 9-6, including having won the past eight meetings.
