INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will host Fort Wayne in the much anticipated final home game inside The Jungle on Saturday (Feb. 22) at 2:00 p.m. in a game to be televised on RTV6, HTSN and ESPN3. The game will also serve as the campus' official kickoff to Homecoming 2014. Greg Rakestraw (pxp) and Hall of Famer Bob Lovell (analyst) will be on the call, while Will Flemming (pxp) and Manny Randhawa (analyst) will be on the radio call on WNDE 1260 AM.

IUPUI's senior class of Donovan GibbsP.J. Hubert and Mitch Patton will be recognized immediately before the game, while the Athletics Department will announce All-Decade Teams at halftime of Saturday's game. In addition, all former players in attendance will be invited down on the floor for recognition during halftime of the game.

On the court, IUPUI (6-22, 1-10 Summit)  will be a week removed from last Saturday's 71-67 loss to South Dakota, despite a feverish comeback in the final two minutes. Both Hubert and Elijah Ray hit threes in the closing minute to make it a one-possession game, but the Jaguars came up empty on their final offensive trip before having to foul, leading to the four-point loss. Patton led the Jaguars with 16 points, six boards and three steals, while Ray added 12 points and six boards in his second career start. Sophomore Marcellus Barksdale contributed 10 points and six assists and now has 14 assists in his past two games, against zero turnovers.

Patton also blocked a pair of shots, giving him 81 in his career. He's one of just seven players in school history to have swatted at least 80 shots in his IUPUI career. The 6-foot-9 lefty ranks among the league leaders in rebounding (7th - 5.8 rpg), blocked shots (7th - 1.1 bpg), scoring (13th - 12.8 ppg), free throw percentage (13th - 73.2%) and field goal percentage (14th - 49.2%). Patton has scored in double-digits in a career-high eight straight games and is scoring 13.8 per game in 11 league games.

Junior Khufu Najee is second on the team at 11.1 points per game in league play, while Barksdale ranks second in the league at 4.2 assists per game against Summit League opponents.

Fort Wayne (19-9, 7-4) has been on a bit of a slide of late, dropping three of four including a 62-73 loss to Denver last Saturday. The Mastodons capped their home schedule at 12-2 inside the Gates Center and is an even 7-7 away from home this season. Senior sharpshooter Luis Jacobo leads the 'Dons at 14.6 points per game and junior big man Steve Forbes checks in at 12.1 points and 5.0 rebounds a night. Indianapolis-native Mo Evans averages 10.0 points per game off the bench.

The 'Dons have three players with at least 49 treys this year with Jacobo having hit a team-high 58 trifectas. As a team, IPFW shoots better than 39 percent from three-point range and almost 49 percent overall from the floor.

IPFW won the earlier meeting between the two schools, 90-75 in Fort Wayne on Jan. 25. Najee led all players with 20 points and both Patton and Ja'Rob McCallum added 18 each. Jacobo had a team-high 19 for the Mastodons and Pierre Bland just missed a triple-double with 16 points, nine boards and eight assists. IPFW hit 13-of-26 (50 percent) from three-point range and won the glass, 37-28.

IUPUI moved into The Jungle in 1982 and has won 255 games inside the on-campus facility. All total, IUPUI has won more than 66 percent of its games inside The Jungle, including posting perfect marks in 1995-96 (10-0), 1997-98 (10-0) and 2007-08 (15-0). IUPUI won 17 straight games inside the Jungle from February 2007 through December 2008.

Saturday's festivities will also include a family friendly pregame reception inside the Auxiliary Gymnasium and a postgame celebration at the nearby Stacked Pickle (910 W. 10th St.). Those wishing to attend either event are asked to fill out this form to reserve their spots.
