RICHMOND, Va. - The IUPUI basketball team will look to keep the positive momentum rolling when the Jaguars play Richmond (6-4) inside Robins Center on Tuesday (Dec. 23) at noon as part of the 2014 Gotham Classic. Tuesday's game will be IUPUI's third of four scheduled games in this year's event, hosted by the Gazelle Group. Tuesday's game will be heard only on WNDE 1260's iHeartRadio channel as Will Flemming (pxp) calls the action from courtside.
IUPUI (3-8) stopped a six-game losing skid on Saturday, picking off South Alabama 71-65 in overtime inside Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Jaguars led by as many as 13 in the second half, but needed a late DavRon Williams layup and a defensive stop to get to overtime. In overtime, the Jaguars scored the first six points and used a key steal from Marcellus Barksdale with 12 seconds left to seal the win. Williams finished with a career-high 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals in 23 minutes of work and Barksdale added 10 points, seven caroms and four steals.
IUPUI improved to 3-0 this year when scoring 70 points or better.
Tuesday's game with Richmond will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

WORKING OVERTIME
IUPUI has gone to overtime in three of five home games this season, winning two of those three contests. On Saturday, the Jags scored the first six points of overtime and outscored South Alabama 12-6 for a six-point win.
DAVRON'S DAY
Senior
DavRon Williams was half expecting to sit out Saturday's game nursing an injury, but was pressed to action midway through the first half. The Marion, Ind.-native came up when it mattered most, scoring the game-tying basket in regulation and four points in overtime in the 71-65 win. Williams closed with a career-high 13 points (4-8 FG, 5-6 FT), seven boards and three steals in 23 minutes.
CELLUS STEALS
Junior
Marcellus Barksdale finished with at least three steals for the third straight game, with none bigger than his steal of an outlet pass with 12 seconds left in overtime. Leading by two,
Mason Archie, II missed the second of two free throws, allowing South Alabama an easy rebound. However, Barksdale picked off the outlet pass and was immediately fouled before pushing the lead to four at the foul line.
SEASON HIGHS
IUPUI got the free throw line a season-high 32 times, making 22 (68.8 percent).
NEW FIVE
Head Coach Jason Gardner opted to shake up the starting five, giving
D.J. McCall his first career start and
Justus Stanback his first start of the year. They were joined by Archie, Barksdale and
Aaron Brennan.
UNCOMMON BALANCE
Eleven different IUPUI players are averaging between two and 10 points per game through 11 games, led by
Marcellus Barksdale's 9.6 points per game. IUPUI has already had nine different leading scorers (including ties).
P.J. Boutte,
Marcellus Barksdale,
Leo Svete,
D.J. McCall,
DavRon Williams,
Jalen McCallum,
Elijah Ray, Mason Archie and
Aaron Brennan have each led the squad in scoring in a game thus far.
IUPUI has nine players averaging at least 14 minutes per game as well.
LOW LEADER
Barksdale's 9.6 points per game scoring average would easily be the lowest total to lead the Jaguars in a single-season in program history. The lowest scoring output to lead the Jaguars in a season is 12.4 points per game by Charles Price in 2001-02.
HITTING 70
IUPUI is 3-0 this season when scoring at least 70 points and 0-8 when failing to reach that number.
THEFTS

Aaron Brennan is third on the squad with 12 steals.
42 STRAIGHT

MR. INDISPENSABLE
While Gardner has shown a deep and versatile bench, the one constant for the Jaguars this season is junior guard
Marcellus Barksdale. The 6-foot-5 veteran is playing nearly 34 minutes per game, ranking among the league's top players. Barksdale leads the team in scoring (9.6 ppg), free throws made (35) and steals (26) and is second in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and assists (2.4 apg).
BENCH PRODUCTION
Through 11 games, IUPUI's bench has scored 294 of the team's 674 points, equivalent to 43.6 percent of the team's scoring. The IUPUI bench has outscored the opposition in nine of the season's 11 games.
WHISTLES UNKIND
Whistles have piled up on the Jaguars this season, resulting in a heavy scoring deficit at the foul line. Here's the numbers:

IUPUI will co-host this year's Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium, along side partners from the Horizon League and Indiana Sports Corp. In 2017, games will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the Men's Final Four returns to Indy and LOS in 2021.
