INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will be back on the court at the newly renamed Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Saturday (Dec. 13) when the Jaguars host reigning Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Kentucky at 1:00 p.m.. Saturday's game will be televised on HTSN and ESPN3 as Greg Rakestraw (pxp) and Bob Lovell (analyst) are on the call from courtside. In addition, the game will be heard on WNDE 1260 AM as Will Flemming (pxp) calls the action.

IUPUI (2-6) is fresh off a 66-43 loss at Xavier on Tuesday while EKU's last contest resulted in an 82-49 loss at No. 1/1 Kentucky last Saturday.

The Jaguars trailed by just four at the half at Xavier, but saw the host Musketeers use a 24-4 blitz early in the second half to break the game open. IUPUI finished with a season-low 43 points, while also holding XU to a season-low 66 points. Junior Marcellus Barksdale tallied a team-high 10 points in the loss.

QUICK HITTERS
- A win today would snap the Jaguars' season-long losing skid and move IUPUI's record to 2-2 at home while a loss would extend the current losing streak to five.
- IUPUI has had nine different leading scorers this year (includes ties) through just eight games. Marcellus Barksdale (three times) and Leo Svete (twice) are the only Jags to have led the team in scoring in more than one game.
- IUPUI basketball at the newly renamed Indiana Farmers Coliseum is easily the best value in town. After three home games at the Coliseum, the Jaguars have played overtime twice and a third game that came down to potential game-tying three on the final possession.
- Nearly 46 percent of IUPUI's points have come from the bench this season, including a season-high 44-point effort at Purdue. All total, IUPUI has 10 players averaging between 3-10 points per game.
- Tonight's game is the third meeting all-time between Eastern Kentucky and IUPUI and the first since 1998. The two teams played a home-and-home series between the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons with each winning at home.
-This marks the 43rd season of IUPUI basketball, beginning with the 1972 campaign.
- IUPUI will play every home game at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum this season in year one of a five-year pact. IUPUI last played home games at the Coliseum from 1975-79. The building was home to the Indiana Pacers from 1967-74.
- More than half of IUPUI's 13-man roster is newcomers this year. All total, the Jaguars welcome seven new faces this year with four Division I transfers and three true freshmen.

FIVE COUNT - QUICK TIDBITS FROM THE LAST GAME
Xavier 66, IUPUI 43 - Dec. 9 - Cincinnati, Ohio
SECOND HALF HAUNTS JAGS
After trailing 27-23 at the half, IUPUI was outscored 39-20 in the second half in Tuesday's 66-43 loss to Xavier. The Jaguars built an early 10-3 lead and led for the majority of the first half before trailing by four at the break. The Jags cut the lead back to two early in the second half, but saw Xavier respond with a 24-4 outburst to run away with the contest.

D-D-D-DEFENSE
IUPUI held Xavier to a season-low 27 first half points and season-low 66 points for the game. The Jaguars forced 18 turnovers, 12 coming via IUPUI steals. However, IUPUI converted the 18 turnovers into only 12 points.

NEW FIVE
Head Coach Jason Gardner tweaked the starting five, inserting senior forward DavRon Williams (6 pts, 8 reb) in place of sophomore Josh James (0 pts, 5 reb). James had started the season's first seven games before coming off the bench for the first time at Xavier.

SEASON-LOW SCORING OUTPUT
The Jaguars were held to just 43 points in the loss to Xavier, hitting just 35 percent overall and 1-of-14 (7.1 percent) from three-point range. IUPUI turned it over 22 times, hindering the Jags' effort.

THEFTS
IUPUI's 12 steals matched a season-high while freshman Aaron Brennan tied his career-high with three steals. Sophomore Jalen McCallum had a career-high two steals in just five minutes and four different Jags had at least two steals.

UNCOMMON BALANCE
Ten different IUPUI players are averaging between three and 10 points per game through eight games, led by Marcellus Barksdale's 10.0 points per game. IUPUI has already had nine different leading scorers (including ties). P.J. Boutte, Marcellus Barksdale, Leo Svete, D.J. McCall, DavRon Williams, Jalen McCallum, Elijah Ray, Mason Archie and Aaron Brennan have each led the squad in scoring in a game thus far.
IUPUI has nine players averaging at least 16 minutes per game as well.

LOW LEADER
Barksdale's 10.0 points per game scoring average would easily be the lowest total to lead the Jaguars in a single-season in program history. The lowest scoring output to lead the Jaguars in a season is 12.4 points per game by Charles Price in 2001-02.

FREE MONEY
IUPUI ranks among the nation's top 50 in free throw shooting, coming in shooting 74.5 percent overall. Individually, D.J. McCall (13-of-14) and Mason Archie, II (9-of-11) pace the Jags, but don't have enough attempts to qualify for league leaders.

40 STRAIGHT
Junior Marcellus Barksdale has now started 40 straight games, dating back to the 2012-13 season opener. No other IUPUI player has started more than eight straight games.

MR. INDISPENSABLE
While Gardner has shown a deep and versatile bench, the one constant for the Jaguars this season is junior guard Marcellus Barksdale. The 6-foot-5 veteran is playing 33 minutes per game, ranking among the league's top players. Barksdale leads the team in scoring (10.0 ppg) and free throws made (18) and second in rebounding (4.3 rpg), assists (2.4 apg) and is tied for the team-high steals (2.0 spg).

BENCH PRODUCTION
Through eight games, IUPUI's bench has scored 223 of the team's 492 points, equivalent to 45.3 percent of the team's scoring. The IUPUI bench has outscored the opposition in six of the season's eight games.

WHISTLES UNKIND
Whistles have piled up on the Jaguars in the season's first eight games as IUPUI has been called for 195 fouls, while drawing just 144 fouls (6.4 foul differential/game). All total, IUPUI has been outscored 165-105 at the charity stripe (7.5 points per game). IUPUI has yielded 229 free throw attempts, while receiving just 141 freebies, a difference of 11 attempts per game.

FUTURE HOST
Good news piled up for Indianapolis and the IUPUI program in November as Indy was awarded the 2021 Men's Final Four and 2017 First/Second Round games.
IUPUI will co-host this year's Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium, along side partners from the Horizon League and Indiana Sports Corp. In 2017, games will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the Men's Final Four returns to Indy and LOS in 2021.
