INDIANAPOLIS – After nearly seven weeks off from competition, the IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams resume action this weekend when they welcome Ball State and Xavier to the IUPUI Natatorium on Friday, Jan. 10, before hosting Saint Louis and Western Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Last time out, the Jags hosted their annual House of Champions Meet and the men's team came away with a first-place showing out of seven teams, while the women's team placed second out of eight teams.

During the meet, Tony Carroll, Cody Watts and Alexus Laird stood out and for their performances during the House of Champions, all three were named Summit League Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.

Carroll swam in seven events during the House of Champions, including four relays, and placed in the Top 3 in each event. He notched four victories, including two individual wins in the 100 back and the 200 back.

Watts swept both the 1- and 3-meter dives for the men's team at the House of Champions and did so in impressive fashion. The Centerville, Ind.-native posted a six-dive score of 324.00 in the prelims of the 3-meter dive, which ranks second in the Summit League this season, before winning the event with a score of 306.35 in the finals.

Laird had a memorable weekend highlighted by her performance in the 100 back. In the finals of the 100 back, Laird dominated and clocked a NCAA 'B' cut time of 54.82 in the finals en route to a three-second win.

The men's team enters the weekend with a 4-1 record, while the women's team enters 2014 with a 6-0 mark. Saturday's meet against the Musketeers and the Cardinals will begin at 6 p.m., while Sunday's meet against the Billikens and the Leathernecks is set to start at 2 p.m. Live stats for both days will be available on IUPUIJags.com.
