GREEN BAY, Wis. – The IUPUI women's swimming and diving team collected three individual wins and a handful of runner-up finishes this weekend, but it wasn't enough as it fell to both Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Jags opened the weekend in Milwaukee, Wis., against the Panthers and dropped a 155-86 decision, before moving on to Green Bay on Saturday where they lost by a score of 144-89.

"Despite tough losses this weekend, we had some strong individual swims. We have a lot to improve on as we head into the Summit League Championships, but I am confident that the hard work we have put in will show in the next few weeks," assistant coach Stephanie Palmeri said.

Alexus Laird and Jennifer Oleksiak were the individual winners for IUPUI during the weekend with Laird winning the 100 back against Milwaukee and the 200 back against Green Bay, and Oleksiak winning the 200 breast against the Phoenix.

Laird's 100 back time of 57.94 nearly bested the field by three seconds on Friday, before posting more than a four-second win in the 200 back on Saturday with a time of 2:04.06. Laird's 200 back time set a new pool record at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium.

Oleksiak claimed the win in the final individual swimming event on Saturday in the 200 breast with a time of 2:24.74, and also claimed a pair of runner-up showings on Friday in the 200 IM (2:12.27) and the 100 breast (1:07.55).

In addition to Oleksiak's two second-place finishes, the Jags had six more near wins on the weekend with four of those coming from Natalie Trout. Trout claimed her first of four second-place showings on Friday in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:35.03, before touching the wall second in the 500 free at 5:11.44. On Saturday, Trout finished second in the 400 IM and the 500 free with times of 4:42.54 and 5:13.07.

The other runner-up finishers for the Jags were Margaret Barber in the 200 free at 1:57.61 against the Panthers, and Alvina Brown in the 100 free with a personal-best time of 55.71.

The Jaguars will have two weeks off before hosting former Summit League foe Oakland on Saturday, Feb. 1, in its final home meet before the 2014 Summit League Championships. The Feb. 1 meet against the Golden Grizzlies will also serve as Senior Day for the men's and women's teams.
