INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will open the year 2014 and close this season's non-conference slate when the Jaguars host Judson at 7:00 p.m. Eastern inside The Jungle on Thursday (Jan. 2). The game can be heard in Central Indiana on WNDE 1260 AM and worldwide on the free iHeartRadio app as Will Flemming (pxp) calls the action from courtside.

Admission to Thursday's game will be free of charge.

The Jaguars (4-12) are looking to snap a five-game skid, including a 75-52 defeat to Drake on Sunday. Senior center Mitch Patton is riding back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his college career after posting 13 points and 12 boards against the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Senior guard Ja'Rob McCallum came off the bench to hit 4-of-5 threes on Sunday and sophomore guard Marcellus Barksdale closed with 11 points, five boards and four assists.

Rebounding has been an issue of late for the Jaguars as IUPUI has been outrebounded by more than 11 caroms per game during the five-game skid. Barksdale continues to lead the team and rank among The Summit League leaders at 7.8 rebounds per game while Patton check in at 6.3 per contest.

Junior guard Ian Chiles was held under 10 points for the first-time all year on Sunday, but continues to rank second in The Summit at 17.3 points per contest. Chiles has hit a team-high 21 threes and is second on the squad with 44 made free throws. Patton's recent strong play has upped his scoring average to 12.1 points a contest.

Barksdale continues to rank among the league's most versatile players, checking in at 8.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. The 6-foot-5 Lexington, Ky.-native hit a pair of threes against Drake on Sunday and is 3-of-3 from three in the past two ballgames. He also leads the Jaguars and ranks among the league's top 10 in blocked shots (20) and steals (19).

McCallum has emerged as one of the team's best shooters, hitting 46.2 percent overall and 40.6 percent from three-point range. The Milwaukee-transfer is netting 9.1 points per game in a reserve role.

Judson (5-10) dropped a 73-58 game at Northwood (Fla.) on Monday and is scheduled to play the University of Windsor in Florida on Tuesday before heading to Indianapolis. Second-year Head Coach Joel Cotton's squad is led by freshman guard Andrew Eck (11.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg) and sophomore forward Turner Schwarz (10.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg). The Eagles average 75.3 points per game, but yield more than 86 points per contest.

Thursday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
