TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The IUPUI basketball team will open a two-game road swing when the Jaguars head west to take on Indiana State (7-3) inside the Hulman Center (10,200) on Saturday (Dec. 21) at 3:35 p.m.. The game will be televised in the Wabash Valley on WTWO-TV as Jason Pensky (pxp) and Jim Waugh (analyst) are on the call. The game can be heard on WNDE 1260 AM or the free iHeartRadio app as Will Flemming (pxp) will be on the call from courtside.

IUPUI is 2-3 all-time against Indiana State and lost two straight to the Sycamores, including a 75-60 defeat in Indianapolis last season.

IUPUI (4-9) has dropped back-to-back games, including a 62-56 loss to Nicholls State inside The Jungle on Wednesday night. The Jaguars led 52-48 with 4:49 remaining, but the visiting Colonels ultimately closed the game with a 14-4 run to drop IUPUI to 3-3 at home this season.

Senior center Mitch Patton led four Jaguars in double-digits with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting and Ian Chiles finished with 13. Junior Khufu Najee scored 12 and sophomore point guard Marcellus Barksdale had 10 points, 10 boards and four assists in his first-ever double-double. Offensively, IUPUI shot just 38.5 percent overall from the floor and 0-of-12 from three-point range, marking the fifth-time in the program's Division I history they went without a trey.

IUPUI has averaged just 53 points per game in back-to-back losses to Marquette and Nicholls on the heels of the team's three-game winning streak. During that span, IUPUI has hit just 33.6 percent from the floor and 17.2 percent from three-point range.

Chiles' Summit League leading scoring average dropped to 18.1 points per game, but the Louisville-native is the only player in the league to have scored in double-digits in every game this season. Barksdale remains in the league's top 10 in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots.

Indiana State is 2-0 inside the Hulman Center this season with wins over Ball State and Truman State. The Sycamores' only three losses have come on the road at Belmont, Tulsa and Saint Louis earlier this week. Senior point guard Jake Odum leads the team in scoring (12.7 ppg), rebounding (4.5 rpg), assists (4.7 apg) and minutes played (32.0 mpg). Justin Gant checks in at 12.6 points per game and Manny Arop is tallying 11.4 points per game, including hitting 14 treys. Fellow guard Dawon Cummings is averaging 10.3 points per game and has a team-best 16 treys and 18 steals.

As a team, the Sycamores are shooting 49.8 percent overall and 43.6 percent from three-point range with nine different players having hit at least one trey. ISU is also strong with the ball, turning it over just 11.7 times per game while forcing more than 13 turnovers a contest.

Patton and Donovan Gibbs scored 12 each against the Sycamores last season, while ISU won the glass, 40-25. IUPUI is 0-2 in the previous two meetings in Terre Haute. Patton made his 50th career start against Nicholls on Wednesday and is expected to make his 100th career appearance on Saturday. Chiles is expected to make his 50th career appearance at Indiana State on Saturday.
