INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team will open the 2013-14 home slate on Tuesday (Nov. 12) when the Jaguars welcome in-state foe Evansville (1-0) to The Jungle for a game to be televised on Hometown Sports & News (HTSN) at 7:05 p.m.. Greg Rakestraw (pxp) and IUPUI Hall of Famer Bob Lovell (analyst) will be on the television call, while Will Flemming (pxp) will be on the radio call on WNDE 1260 AM and iHeartRadio, beginning at approximately 6:40 p.m.. Tuesday's game is the first of seven regionally televised home broadcasts on HTSN.
Adult reserved tickets are just $10 and are half priced on Tuesday with the donation of a non-perishable item to "Jam the Jaguars Pantry" canned food drive as part of The Summit League's annual "Food Fight".
The campus community will be hosting a Jag Prowl tailgate at the Campus Center at 6:00 p.m., while free t-shirts will also be distributed to students on Tuesday night.
IUPUI (0-1) dropped its regular season opener at Utah Valley on Friday, 74-66, despite a workmanlike 26 points and 10 boards from 6-foot-9 center
Mitch Patton. Patton hit 9-of-13 shots and scored 20 of his 26 in the second half, later earning Summit League Co-Player of the Week honors on Monday. Junior guard
Ian Chiles tallied 14 after missing nearly all of last season due to injury, while sophomore
Marcellus Barksdale had 10 points, five boards and a career-high four assists in his first career start. The Jaguars trailed by 10 late in the first half, but crept within five by halftime at 34-29. IUPUI closed within four on four separate occasions in the second half, but could never ultimately get over the hump.

Donovan Gibbs had eight points and four boards, including hitting 2-of-3 from three-point range. True freshmen

Justus Stanback both scored their first collegiate points, while JC-transfer
Khufu Najee was in the starting lineup and closed with two points and two boards.
Holton Hunsaker led UVU with 18 points and four assists and Keawe Enos tallied 14 points before fouling out.
Evansville is coming off an 87-69 win over Martin Methodist at the Ford Center on Saturday, getting a game-high 29 points and nine assists from sophomore guard D.J. Balentine. Adam Wing chipped in 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Blake Simmons, son on Head Coach Marty Simmons, had 11 points. Evansville shot a blistering 56.6 percent from the field and limited Martin Methodist to just 38.5 percent.
IUPUI has been brilliant in home openers in the program's Division I era, going 14-1 overall and winning 13-in-a-row dating back to the 2000 season. The last time IUPUI lost a home opener was when the Jaguars dropped a 75-59 contest to Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 24, 1999. Since then, IUPUI has won 13 straight by an average of 24.8 points per game. Under Head Coach Todd Howard, IUPUI is 2-0 in home openers with victories over Anderson (101-68 on 11/11/11) and Utah Valley (67-54 on 11/9/12).
Tuesday's game is the second-ever meeting between IUPUI and Evansville on the hardwood with the Purple Aces having claimed a 74-61 decision in Evansville on Nov. 20, 1999. Current Assistant Coach Don Carlisle had 12 points, five boards and two steals in the Jaguars' loss that evening.
