INDIANAPOLIS - While the IUPUI Athletics Department is asking that all fans wear white to this weekend's men's soccer match on Saturday (Oct. 5), on the field the Jaguars will be wearing pink jerseys when they host Omaha (Oct. 5) at 7:00 p.m. at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Saturday's match can be watched via the
IUPUI LIVE! subscription service as Morgan Adcock (pxp) is on the call.Â
Admission is free of charge while standard university parking rates apply.Â
IUPUI will wear pink jerseys, white shorts and white socks as part of the ongoing fight against breast cancer. However, the Athletics Department is asking fans in attendance to wear white as part of White Out Weekend. In addition, free #imajaguar t-shirts will be distributed, while supplies last.Â
IUPUI (0-8-3, 0-0-1 Summit) opened Summit League play with a 1-1 draw at Eastern Illinois last weekend before falling 2-0 to Wright State in a midweek non-conference game. Scoring has been an issue for the Jags all season long as IUPUI has tallied just six goals in 11 matches. Both
Ian Block and
Michael Sass have two goals each and
Lance Davis and
Jonny Williams each have a score.Â
Health, or lack thereof, has played a role in the Jaguars' woes. Eleven different players have missed time due to injuries, while Jacob only had 13 field players at his disposal earlier this week.Â
Defensively, freshman
Christian Lomeli made his third start of the year in goal on Tuesday, allowing a pair of goals in just more than 80 minutes of action. The rookie made four stops, but had to leave with just under 10 minutes left after landing awkwardly.
Jess Clark played more than nine minutes of clean relief.Â
All total, the Jaguars have a 1.94 goals against average and .657 save percentage. Sophomore
Eduardo Cortes leads the team with 32 saves and Lomeli has 12 stops.Â
Omaha (2-6-1, 1-0 Summit) opened Summit League play with a 2-1 win over reigning tournament champion Western Illinois before falling to Milwaukee, 3-1 earlier this week. Vince Rookwood leads the UNO attack with three goals and Chava Garcia has a goal and four assists.Â
In goal, Matt Grosey holds a 1.71 GAA and .619 save percentage, having played every minute this season.Â
IUPUI is 0-1 all-time against Omaha, having lost last year's match on the road. Jacob and current Omaha Head Coach Jason Mims were on staff together at Penn State, even sharing an office during their tenure.Â
