INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will jump into Summit League action this weekend, hosting both North Dakota State and South Dakota State at Carroll Stadium as part of White Out Weekend. The Jaguars will take on NDSU (4-6, 0-0 Summit) on Friday (Oct. 4) at 7:00 p.m. before the match against SDSU (5-3-2, 0-0 Summit) kicks at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 6).
Friday's match with NDSU will be streamed on the
IUPUI LIVE! subscription service with Morgan Adcock (pxp) calling the action. Admission to both matches is free of charge, while standard university parking rates still apply. Fans in attendance are urged to wear white in support of the program over the weekend.
IUPUI (4-3-3, 0-0 Summit) is amidst a seven-game homestand, going 2-1-2 thus far with wins over Bowling Green and Northern Iowa. Last Sunday (Sept. 29) against UNI, sophomore
Kalli Shepler-Tucker had a goal and an assist and classmate
Grace Perkowitz netted the game-winner in the 55th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie. Shepler-Tucker was later named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for her three-point effort.
Freshman goalkeeper
Nicole Kulovitz collected the win to up her record to 3-0-1 on the season, making two saves in relief of senior
Giselle Guzman. This season, Guzman has a 0.80 goals against average in 10 starts, collecting 45 saves and a .882 save percentage as the No. 1 keeper. Kulovitz has made six relief appearances, posting a 0.62 goals against average and 15 saves off the bench.
The goalkeepers have benefited from the strong play of the back line, anchored by
Kristin Pierce and
Maddie Riedford in the middle and
Lauren Kulaga and
Sarah Carlisle on the outsides. Carlisle has become especially dangerous in the attack as well, tying for team-high honors with three assists.
Offensively,
Tori Minnich and
Taylor Heidorn lead the Jaguars with two goals each with the latter having half of the team's game-winners.
NDSU is led by Lauren Miller's four goals and four assists while Anisha Kinnarath also has four goals, including two game-winners. In goal, Sierra Bonham has a 2.30 GAA and 52 saves in nine appearances.
SDSU is keyed by Alyssa Brazil's four goals and two assists and Diana Potterveld has three goals and two helpers. In goal, Nicole Inskeep has been among the Summit's top keepers, registering a 0.75 GAA and 35 saves in 10 starts.
IUPUI is 4-5 all-time against NDSU, having lost three straight to the Bison including last year's 1-0 defeat in Fargo, N.D.. The Jaguars are 2-6-1 all-time against the Jackrabbits following last year's 1-1 double overtime draw in Brookings, S.D..
