INDIANAPOLIS - Former Summit League rival Oakland will return to Indianapolis to take on the IUPUI women's soccer team in non-conference action on Tuesday (Oct. 22) in a 7:00 p.m. showdown at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Tuesday's match will cap the Jaguars' home slate this season, leading up to a stretch of three consecutive Summit League matches.
IUPUI (4-7-4) played IPFW to a 2-2 draw at the Stadium on Friday, getting goals from freshman
Tori Minnich and
Grace Perkowitz. Minnich netted her team-high third of the season off assists from
Kalli Shepler-Tucker and
Anna Rode, while Perkowitz got the Jags even in the 72nd minute off an assist from
Sarah Carlisle.
Both Carlisle and Shepler-Tucker are tied with a team-high four assists this season.
A bad five-minute stretch ultimately caused the Jaguars to not a get a result though, as the visiting Mastodons scored in the 50th and 52nd minutes against senior goalkeeper
Giselle Guzman. Guzman enters Tuesday's match with a 1.65 goals against average and 65 saves in 15 starts. Defensively, IUPUI has a 1.44 GAA and .777 save percentage this season.
Oakland (7-7-1) has won three straight, all at home and all by identical 2-0 scores in Horizon League play. Meghan Reynolds leads the OU attack with six goals and Joan Sieja has a team-high seven assists. Collectively, Oakland is averaging 1.53 goals per game, while allowing 1.73 per match. In goal, Payj O'Shea has played the majority of the team's minutes, registering a 1.74 GAA and 52 saves in 13 appearances.
OU last yielded a goal in a 2-1 loss at Wright State on Oct. 5.
IUPUI is 3-13 all-time against Oakland, having lost three straight to the Golden Grizzlies. The Jaguars last win over OU was a 3-1 outcome at Kuntz Stadium on Oct. 30, 2009. Last year, OU claimed a 1-0 win in Rochester, Mich..
IUPUI has already assured itself of going at least .500 at home this season, having notched a 4-3-4 mark in 11 contests.
