CINCINNATI, Ohio - The IUPUI men's soccer team will be back to work on Wednesday (Oct. 16) when the Jaguars take on Cincinnati at 7:00 p.m. at Gettler Stadium. The match is IUPUI's penultimate non-conference contest of the year and leads into this weekend's home matchup with IPFW.

The Jaguars (1-9-3) are eager to make amends after a 4-0 loss at Denver this past weekend. DU scored twice in the game's first 22 minutes and added a pair of second half insurance scores to knock IUPUI from The Summit League's unbeatens.

Sophomore goalie Eduardo Cortes tied his season-high with eight stops in goal and faced 23 shots total. Cortes has a 1.97 goals against average and 46 saves in 10 starts as the Jags' primary netminder.

Offensively, Ian Block, Lance Davis and Michael Sass all have two goals on the year. Davis netted the game-winner in the Jaguars' 1-0 overtime home win over Omaha on Oct. 5 and is tied with Block with a team-high five points. Block ranks among The Summit League leaders in shots (27) in 13 matches. Sass has seen extensive playing time all over the field and is third among the field players with 1,145 minutes.

Sophomore back Clint Hoffar leads the Jaguars having played all but about four minutes this season and freshman Ben Ogedegbe has played better than 90 percent of the team's minutes.

The offense received a jolt with the return of freshman Ayodele Makinde from injury. The Chicago-native missed the season's first 13 matches before making his IUPUI debut at Denver last weekend. The Jags' striker had one shot on frame in just more than 45 minutes work.

Cincinnati (3-9-1) has gotten five goals from Ashani Walker this year to account for more than half of the team's offensive output. In goal, Alex Gill has a 1.49 GAA and 52 saves in 11 matches, notching a 3-6-1 record. UC has wins over Evansville, SIUE and most recently Cleveland State this season. The Bearcats are 1-5-1 on their home turf in 2013.

IUPUI is 1-1 all-time against Cincinnati, having beaten the Bearcats 2-1 on Sept. 1, 2004 before losing 4-1 on Sept. 11, 2011. Current Columbus Crew defender Kyle Hyland scored in the 54th minute to knot that match at 1-1 before UC scored three times in a nine-minute stretch late in the match to claim the 4-1 victory.
