DENVER - Host Denver got a pair of first half goals and never looked back as the Pioneers blazed past IUPUI, 4-0 at CIBER Field on Saturday (Oct. 12) night. DU's Zach Bolden assisted on a goal in the 14th minute and scored one himself in the 22nd minute, while IUPUI was held to just six shots in the loss.
Denver (6-3-3, 2-0 Summit) knocked IUPUI (1-9-3, 1-1-1 Summit) from the ranks of the Summit League's unbeatens with the victory. Meanwhile, Denver joined Oral Roberts atop the league standings at 2-0 in the season's early going.
Reid Hukari put the Pioneers ahead in the 14th minute, scoring from in close off assists from Bolden and Cole Chapleski. Just more than seven minutes later, Bolden drilled a strike past IUPUI sophomore goalie

The Pioneers piled on more offense in the second half as Karsten Hanlin tallied in the 54th minute and Kyle Morlack found the back of the net in the 85th minute.
Cortes was under duress for much of the evening, facing 23 shots, 12 of which were on frame. The Texas-native matched his season-high with eight saves, upping his total to 46 on the season.
Offensively, IUPUI was unable to get much going against DU, managing just six shots total and two on target. Freshman
Ayodele Makinde, making his IUPUI debut on Saturday, had a shot saved by DU goalie Oliver Brown in the 11th minute for the Jaguars' first shot on goal. Makinde missed the season's first 13 matches due to a preseason injury before returning to action on Saturday.

Sam Stronczek led the IUPUI offense with two shots off the bench. Denver spread 23 shot attempts among 11 players with Bolden and Chapleski leading the way with four each.
IUPUI dropped to 1-1 all-time against DU with Saturday's loss.
The Jaguars will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they head down I-74 to take on Cincinnati in non-conference action. That match is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. Eastern at Gettler Stadium.
