INDIANAPOLIS - Seeking good fortune, good karma and home cooking, the IUPUI basketball team will return to the Jungle for a home game for the first time in over two weeks when the Jaguars host IU Northwest (4-10) on Tuesday (Dec. 11) night at 7:00 p.m..

The game can be heard on WNDE 1260 AM, WNDE.com, IUPUIJags.com and through the free iHeartRadio app available on smartphones as Scott McCauley (pxp) calls the contest from courtside. Pregame coverage will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m.. The game can be viewed online through the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service, produced by WebStream Sports. Tickets are available by contacting John Rasmussen at 317-274-5453 or jrrasmus@iupui.edu.

The short-handed, road weary Jaguars have dropped four straight contests since defeating IU East in The Jungle 87-54 back on Nov. 26. Head Coach Todd Howard's team got a little healthier in the backcourt before Saturday's loss at Western Kentucky as junior Ian Chiles returned with 13 points in 24 minutes off the bench. However, the already thin frontcourt was even thinner when junior center Mitchell Patton missed his first game of the season due to injury. Meanwhile, sophomore swingman Marcellus Barksdale and freshman point guard Cortell Busby continue to sit due to injuries.

IUPUI (3-8) got a career-high 13 points off the bench from sophomore Jordan Shanklin, but ultimately succumbed to the deeper Hilltoppers, 77-57. The Jaguars shot just 36.4 percent from the floor while allowing the hosts to hit 56 percent from the field and 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) from three-point range. Awarded just his second start of the season, sophomore Lyonell Gaines took advantage of the opportunity with seven points and six rebounds in a team-high 30 minutes and senior John Hart added eight points and a career-high eight caroms. Chiles' effort was a welcome sight after the preseason All-Summit Leaguer had missed the season's first 10 games due to injury.

Tuesday's game marks the 11th meeting all-time between IUPUI and IU Northwest in a series that dates back to the 1972-73 season. IUPUI has won 9-of-10 meetings and six straight over the Red Hawks including an 83-62 victory on Nov. 16, 2010. Leroy Nobles led five Jags in double-digits that night with 21 points and Alex Young had a double-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Current Jaguars Sean Esposito (12 points) and Donovan Gibbs (11 points) also finished in double-figures.

IUN, coached by former Valpo guard Jason Hawkins, comes in having lost two straight including a 94-68 defeat to Lindenwood on Thursday (Dec. 6). Sophomore guard Brandon Grubl is the team's top scorer (12.6 ppg) and assists (3.2 apg) and second on the squad in rebounding (4.8 rpg). Senior forward Baile Barnett is tops on the team in boards (6.7 rpg) and is netting 9.9 points per game.

IUPUI is 2-1 at home this year including the season-opening win over Utah Valley. Hart continues to lead the Jaguars in scoring (14.9 ppg) and steals (18) while Patton is second on the team in both scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (5.7 rpg) and leads the Jags in field goal percentage (.573) and blocked shots (7). Gibbs leads the squad in rebounds (7.7 rpg) and is averaging 8.6 points per game.
