INDIANAPOLIS - While Indianapolis serves as the center of the sporting universe this week, the IUPUI basketball team will get in on the fray on Wednesday (Feb. 1) night when the Jaguars host two-time defending Summit League champion Oakland University to the Jungle for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

Wednesday's game can be heard in the Indianapolis-market on 1260 WNDE and worldwide on WNDE.com and via the iHeartRadio app available on smartphones. In addition, the game can be seen live on the web with the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service as Scott McCauley (pxp) calls the action. Reserved tickets are available for just $10 and all IUPUI students with a valid JagTag will be admitted for free. Because of increased traffic in the city due to the Super Bowl, fans are advised to click here for traffic flow and parking questions.

IUPUI (8-15, 2-9 Summit) returns to Indy in need of some home cooking after a heartbreaking 57-55 loss at Western Illinois on Saturday. The Jaguars fell for the seventh straight time when WIU freshman Remy Roberts-Burnett swished a contested three with 0.5 seconds left to hand the Leathernecks the victory. IUPUI had gone in front 55-54 on an Alex Young three with two minutes to play, but came up short on opportunities to extend the lead. Young finished with a game-high 22 points and senior center Christian Siakam added 16 points and eight boards in the defeat. Ceola Clark led WIU with 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and Roberts-Burnett tallied 11 key points off the WIU bench.

Siakam hit 7-of-8 shots as IUPUI teamed to hit 50 percent from the floor, but saw WIU connect on 51.2 percent overall. Siakam's 16-point effort was his highest scoring output since tallying 21 against Anderson in the season opener. The Cameroon-native is averaging 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting almost 70 percent from the floor since returning to the starting lineup five games ago.

Wednesday's game boasts two of the nation's most prolific scorers in Young and OU guard Reggie Hamilton. Young enters play with 2,107 career points, ranking No. 1 among active players in Division I men's hoops by more than 150 points. Hamilton is presently fifth in the country with 1,818 points and ranks No. 2 in the nation at 24.0 points per game.

Young has been hot of late, scoring in double-digits 13 straight times and 20 or better in four straight games. He's since climbed to 12th nationally in scoring average and is one of five Summit Leaguers to rank in the nation's top 16 in scoring average.

IUPUI is 14-22 all-time against Oakland and 13-19 since joining the Division I ranks in 1998. The Jaguars are 8-6 in games played in Indianapolis and have won the past two meetings in the Circle City. Oakland (12-12, 6-6 Summit) won the meeting earlier this season, 93-81 in Rochester on Jan. 7.

Aside from Hamilton, Oakland's high powered offense boasts four others scoring better than 9.5 points per game including reigning Summit League Player of the Week Travis Bader at 14.3 points per game. The sophomore sharpshooter has made 73 threes in 24 games and is connecting at a 37.8 percent clip. Junior forward Drew Valentine comes in averaging 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and redshirt freshman Corey Petros is netting 9.6 points and a team-high 7.8 boards a night.

As a team, OU is averaging a league-best 79.1 points per game and yielding 79.8 a night. Head coach Greg Kampe's squad boasts non-conference wins over Houston, Tennessee and Valparaiso this season.
