CINCINNATI, Ohio - The IUPUI men's soccer team looks to snap a six-game winless skid when it heads south to take on Xavier on Thursday night at the XU Soccer Complex. The Jaguars have lost three-in-a-row under first-year Head Coach
Isang Jacob with two of the three losses coming on the road to BIG EAST foes.
Thursday's match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 p.m..
IUPUI (1-5-1) has struggled to put the ball in the net to start the year, having been blanked in four of it's seven outings. Junior
Kyle Hyland and senior
Perez Agaba lead the squad with three points and
Matt Guy and
Sam Fuller have also contributed goals. Defensively, senior
Tyler Keever has a 1.71 goals against average and 26 saves in seven matches.
Jacob has continually tried to find an answer as only Hyland, Keever and junior midfielder
Joshio Sandoval have started all seven matches thus far. In all, 21 Jaguars have started at least one match this season.
Xavier (4-1) has allowed just three goals in five games coming in, two of which came in this past weekend's 2-0 loss at Northwestern. Junior forward Luke Spencer leads the Musketeers with two goals and two assists and freshman James Weber has tallied two goals as a reserve. At the other end, junior Justin Marshall has a 0.61 GAA and needed just 12 saves this year.
IUPUI is 0-2-1 all-time against Xavier, including dropping a 1-0 overtime decision at Kuntz Stadium last season on Spencer's goal in the 97th minute.
On Saturday (Sept. 24), the IUPUI men's soccer team will also be hosting its second FREE soccer clinic of the season from 9-10 a.m. at Kuntz Stadium. Kids ages 6-13 of all skill levels and invited to come play with the Jaguars and will also be able to take pictures and get autographs from the players and coaches immediately afterwards.
