FARGO, N.D. - Two days after having its season-best four-game winning streak snapped, the IUPUI basketball team will return to action on Saturday at North Dakota State at 8:30 p.m. inside Bison Sports Arena. IUPUI (15-11, 9-4 Summit) dropped an 81-70 decision to SDSU on Thursday, despite five Jags finishing in double-figures. Senior
Leroy Nobles led the way with 19 points and junior
Alex Young added 14 on 6-of-16 shooting. Junior
Stephen Thomas totaled 13, all in the second half, and
Sean Esposito and
John Ashworth netted 10 each.
Clint Sargent led SDSU with 23 points on seven threes and sophomore point guard Nate Wolters dominated with 21 points and 11 assists. IUPUI closed within five at halftime at 39-34 and scored the first five points of the second half to knot the score. However, SDSU later reeled off an 18-0 run and coasted from there. The Jackrabbits shot 53 percent overall and from behind the three-point line in the victory, while IUPUI was limited to just 45 percent.
NDSU (13-11, 7-7 Summit) is coming off a 68-48 win over Western Illinois on Thursday night, led by freshman Taylor Braun's 16 points and nine boards. Senior swingman Michael Tveidt paces the Bison at 15 points per game and junior forward Eric Carlson comes in averaging 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Marshall Bjorklund leads the Bison with 5.8 rebounds a night.
Young continues to lead The Summit in scoring at 19.7 points per game while Nobles has upped his average to 17 points a night.
IUPUI comes in seeking a season sweep over NDSU after a 67-64 win over the Bison in Indianapolis on Jan. 13.
