ROCHESTER, Mich. - The IUPUI men's soccer team will head up to Oakland on Saturday (Nov. 5) with heavy postseason implications on the line as the Jaguars take on the Golden Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on the OU Soccer Field. IUPUI's season has come to an end at Oakland the past three seasons, all in conference tournament play.
IUPUI (6-9-2, 2-2-1 Summit) hasn't won at Oakland since 1999. That season, the Jaguars beat OU to earn a spot in the then Mid-Continent Conference Tournament and then turned around and beat the Golden Grizzlies in the opening round of the tournament at home before losing to Oral Roberts in the championship game.
This year's bunch was seemingly on a hot streak before having things derailed in a 3-1 loss to Oral Roberts last weekend. The Jaguars have won five of their past seven matches, including four coming by shutout.
Rookie
Sam Fuller continues to pace the offense with four goals (all game-winners) and senior
Perez Agaba has three goals and two assists. Both
Galen Cassady and
Ian Block have two goals this season and junior back
Kyle Hyland has a team-high four assists.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Tyler Keever has a 1.21 goals against average and 71 saves in 17 games. He's totaled six shutouts overall and yielded just 21 goals overall.
Oakland (5-11-1, 2-3 Summit) has six players with multiple goals this season, led by Jeff Cheslik's four scores. Jonathan Evans has a team-high five assists and Konner McNamara has tallied a team-high two game-winning goals. In net, Mitch Hildebrandt has played the majority of the team's minutes, registering a 1.22 GAA and 51 saves in 11 games.
Among the Golden Grizzlies' five wins are outcomes at Cincinnati and over Dayton. Their two Summit League wins have come over IPFW and Eastern Illinois.
