MUNCIE, Ind. - The IUPUI basketball team looks to snap a three-game skid when the Jaguars face off with in-state foe Ball State (0-2) on Wednesday (Nov. 23) night in the first of two upcoming matchups during the 2011-12 campaign. The Cardinals will return the game to Conseco Fieldhouse on Dec. 19 of this year. Wednesday's game is scheduled to tipoff at 7:00 p.m. inside Worthen Arena in Muncie with pregame coverage being heard on 1260 WNDE beginning at approximately 6:50 p.m.. Scott McCauley's call of the action can also be heard on WNDE.com or through the free iHeartRadio app available on smartphones.

IUPUI (1-3) comes in having dropped three straight games as part of the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Classic which included Sunday's 66-64 loss to Eastern Michigan. The past two games, IUPUI has shot just 30.6 percent from the floor including a season-low 30 percent effort at Milwaukee on Friday. Senior Alex Young had a game-high 21 points and career-high 14 rebounds in the loss to EMU on Sunday, marking the seventh double-double of his collegiate career. Sophomore Ian Chiles added 17 off the bench and freshman Lyonell Gaines had 10 points and a season-high seven boards in the loss. Senior Stephen Thomas had a career-best seven assists to go with seven points in 34 minutes work.

The game was tied at 59 all with 1:50 to play after Chiles converted a three-point play, but EMU responded with a mini 7-2 run over the next four possessions to escape victorious. Darrell Lampley made the key plays down the stretch including setting up a Kamil Janton reverse layup with 18.8 seconds left to make it a three-point lead and later grabbing the defensive board on a Thomas miss and hitting both free throws to ice the game. Lampley led EMU with 16 points and six assists while Antonio Green had 14 points and seven boards.

IUPUI comes in 0-5 all-time against Ball State with the Jaguars' one victory later having been vacated by the NCAA due to institutional violations. The Jaguars are 0-3 in Muncie, having dropped those three contests by an average of 10.3 per. Wednesday's game marks the first meeting since the 2005-06 campaign when the Cardinals won 53-50 inside the Jungle.

BSU comes in having lost its first two games at Arizona and at Ball State. 6-foot-9 senior Jarrod Jones leads the Cardinals in scoring (16.0 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), blocked shots (2) and field goal shooting (59.1 percent) in the early going. The big man is also a perfect 3-for-3 from three thus far this season. Junior guard Jauwan Scaife is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game and has hit 6-of-16 (37.5 percent) from three in the first two games while senior point guard Randy Davis has handed out 15 assists against just four turnovers and leads BSU in minutes played (66).
