VERMILLION, S.D. - Following a rough 0-3 start, the IUPUI women's soccer team will head west seeking its first win of the 2010 season this weekend. The Jaguars will play at future Summit League foe South Dakota on Saturday before traveling to Nebraska on Monday.
The Jaguars have been blanked in their first three outings of the season including a 3-0 loss at Detroit last Sunday. Head Coach Chris Johnson is still searching for a starter in net as redshirt freshman Paige Koop and true freshman Giselle Guzman have alternated nods through the season's first three matches.
Offensively, IUPUI has been held off the scoreboard and outshot by its opponents 35-17 thus far. Freshman midfielder Ashley Doreski has led the team with five shot attempts through three matches.
USD (1-1-1) comes in with an early .500 record that includes a 2-0 win over UMKC and a 1-1 tie at Western Illinois. Freshman forward Jenny Teslow leads the Coyotes with two tallies on the young season. IUPUI is 1-0 all-time against USD, having claimed a 3-0 decision in September 2008 at Kuntz Stadium. Saturday's match is scheduled to kickoff at 5:00 p.m..
The meeting at Nebraska marks the first-ever between the two schools. The Huskers enter the weekend with a 2-1 record, having beaten both Loyola (Ill.) and Loyola (Md.). Junior midfielder Molly Thomas, who trained with the U.S. U-23 team this past spring, has tallied three of Nebraska's four goals on the year.
Monday's game is slated for 1:00 p.m..
