SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Making their fifth trip to the championship game of The Summit League men's basketball tournament, the IUPUI Jaguars will look to grab the second NCAA Tournament bid in program history when they meet Oakland on Tuesday at Sioux Falls Arena. Tip-off is slated for 9 p.m. ET, with live coverage available on ESPN2. Scott McCauley's call of the game will begin at approximately 8:50 p.m. ET and can be heard on IUPUIJags.com.
IUPUI (24-9) hung on for dear life in a 69-65 win over Oral Roberts in Monday's semifinal; the Jaguars lost a 21-point lead before closing the game with a 9-4 run to claim the win. Â
The victory put the Jaguars into the conference title game for the fifth time in 10 years and gave IUPUI a title game appearance in all four cites in which The Summit League Tournament has been contested. Â
Â
"We've now been to the finals five times in the 10 years we've been in the league and in all four cities we've played in," head coach Ron Hunter said following the semifinal win. "That says something about our program.
"It's going to be fun tomorrow night. They're going to be ready to play and I think my guys are going to be ready to play."
Robert Glenn is averaging 24.0 points in the tournament, while
Leroy Nobles is putting up 18 per game for the Jags.
Oakland (25-8) pulled away from IPFW midway through the second half of their semifinal matchup, posting a 71-58 win to make their second straight conference final.
The teams split their meetings during the 2009-10 campaign, with each team winning on their home court.
IUPUI took a three-point loss (85-82) at Oakland to start the new year, but earned a measure of revenge on Jan. 28, handing OU a 78-54 loss - the only loss of The Summit League season for the Grizzlies.
The Jags' three conference losses came by a total of six points.
The Jaguars and Golden Grizzlies are meeting for the first time in the championship game of The Summit League Tournament. Fans in Indianapolis are invited to join a watch party tonight at the BW3's downtown.
