FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore Alex Young scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and senior Robert Glenn notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards as IUPUI finished strong to outlast North Dakota State, 66-52. The Jaguars outscored NDSU 24-9 over the final nine minutes with Young accounting for 12 of those decisive points.

"I was really happy with Alex," IUPUI Head Coach Ron Hunter said. "He's having a great year – an all-conference year. He just probably doesn't get as much credit as he should because of the year Rob (Glenn) is having, but he was terrific tonight."

NDSU (10-17, 7-10 Summit) took its only lead of the game with 9:05 left when Eric Carlson split a pair of free throws, making it 43-42 in favor of the hosts. From there, Young and Glenn took over with the latter putting the Jags on top with a short jumper at the 8:48 mark. After an NDSU turnover, Young swooped in from the right wing and dropped in a finger roll while drawing a foul to push the lead to four.

Tveidt got the Bison back within three with a foul shot, but IUPUI (21-9, 14-3) answered with back-to-back buckets including a Jon Avery two-handed slam off a drive and draw from Billy Pettiford. Young proceeded to score IUPUI's next seven points as IUPUI's defense suffocated the hosts down the stretch.

"Defensively, we turned it up a bit (in the second half). To hold a good team to 52 points on the road says a lot about our defense," Hunter said. "We came in here, got the job done and got the road win. Anytime we can win on the road, it's a good thing and we want to carry that momentum."

The win was the Jags' third straight and 11th in the past 13 outings and clinched sole possession of second place in The Summit.

The Jaguars were unable to get much breathing room in the first half until finally cranking up the defense at the midway point of the period. After the Bison closed with one on back-to-back threes, IUPUI held the hosts scoreless for over eight minutes, stretching a 20-19 lead out to 30-19 until Josh Vaughan hit a trey with 44 seconds left before the break.

IUPUI saw its eight-point halftime lead evaporate rather quickly in the second half before the late burst helped seal the Jags' win.

Young hit 10-of-14 field goal attempts as the Jaguars shot 51.9 percent overall from the floor. Inside, Glenn was 5-of-11 from the field as he posted his third double-double of the season. He became just the 19th player in school history to hit the 1,000 point mark with a free throw with 12:35 left and the fifth to accumulate that total in just two seasons.

Both Leroy Nobles and John Ashworth finished with 10 points each and Pettiford added five points, six assists and four boards.

"Ashworth just needed that for his confidence. We've taken him off the ball a little bit more and that's freed him up to do some other things. If he starts hitting open shots, that only makes us that more deadly offensively," Hunter said.

Tveidt led NDSU with 17 points and eight boards and Vaughan added 12 on four treys.

NDSU shot just 38.9 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 16 times, leading to 15 IUPUI points. The Jags committed just 12 turnovers and collected eight steals, led by Avery's three.

IUPUI will cap its two-game road trip on Saturday when it takes on South Dakota State inside Frost Arena at 8:30 p.m. EST. Scott McCauley's pregame coverage on IUPUIJags.com will begin at approximately 8:20.
