INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off an 86-56 loss at No. 12 Gonzaga on Sunday, the IUPUI basketball team looks to get back to business when it hosts IU-Northwest in the 2010 home opener on Tuesday night in The Jungle. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with pregame coverage on 88.3 FM / The Walk slated to begin at approximately. Scott McCauley (play-by-play) and former Jaguar Angelo Smith (analyst) will call the action from courtside in The Jungle. Additionally, the game will be offered as part of the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service available via IUPUIJags.com. Single-game subscriptions are just $4.95 and a full season package is $24.95.

Alex Young. Young will also be recognized just prior to tipoff after having scored his 1,000th career point in the loss at Gonzaga. The Indianapolis Northwest High School-grad became the 21st player in IUPUI history to reach the 1,000 point plateau and finished the game with a team-high 16.
Gonzaga made seemingly quick work of the Jaguars on Sunday, surging out to a 16-2 lead less than nine minutes in. The Jaguars didn’t tally a field goal until Ashworth stroked a 16-footer at the 10:36 mark of the first half.
Trailing 37-18 at the break, IUPUI scored the first five points of the second half on a Nobles three and slicing layup by Young, but could get no closer than 14 the rest of the day. Nobles finished with 14 points, including three threes, and Ashworth added 10.
IUPUI shot less than 35 percent from the floor and saw GU connect on better than 60 percent of its attempts.
Steven Gray led five Gonzaga players in double-digits with 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
IUPUI dropped to 0-8 all-time against ranked opponents since moving to the Division I level in 1998.
IUPUI comes in with an 8-1 lead in the all-time series with IU-Northwest, although the two schools haven’t met since 1977. The last meeting was a 116-62 pasting of IUN on Feb. 27, 1976 in Indianapolis. Davy Harris led the Metros with 18 points and 6-foot-5 Greg Williams grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
The IU-Northwest roster includes three Indianapolis natives in Jeremy Comer, Melvin Conn-Baird and Justin Latimore. The Jags have won 10 straight home openers and 11 of 12 at the Division I level.
