INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's swimming and diving team opened up the 2010-11 season on Friday night with a triangular meet against Asbury and Butler inside the IU Natatorium. Both
Katelyn Cato and
Katlyn Huhn picked up two wins in the pool and junior
Chen Ni swept the diving events for the Jaguars.
Cato dominated the backstroke events, winning the 100 in a time of 1:02.06 and the 200 at 2:12.54. Cato was also a member of the 200 freestyle winning relay team that also included
Lindsey Hurst,
Rosanna van der Kleij and
Erin Bieger.
Similarly to Cato, Huhn was equally strong in the breaststroke events, claiming the 100 at 1:11.03 and 200 in a time of 2:35.35.
Ni, who earned IUPUI's first-ever NCAA title in the platform diving last season, easily swept the two diving events on Friday night. In the one-meter, the China-native posted a score of 285.75 and she recorded a 299.60 in the three-meter event.
Senior
Carrie Ford also won a race on Friday, claiming the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:09.63.
IUPUI will return to action on Saturday when the Jaguars take part in the Ball State Relays, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Muncie, Ind..
