INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's swimming and diving team opened up its 2010-11 home season with a 162-140 dual meet win over Asbury College inside the IU Natatorium on Friday night. Kyle Whitaker won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke races while senior Tyler McGowan was victorious in both the 100 and 200 butterfly events.

Whitaker claimed the 100 breast race in a time of 1:02.01 and the 200 at 2:16.90. McGowan earned the 100 fly win with a time of 53:69 and the 200 victory with a time of 1:56.19.

Neal Ross won the 500 freestyle event in a time of 5:03.32 and Michael Steurer claimed the 100 backstroke win with a time of 54:46. Hunter Chiasson also claimed an important victory for the Jaguars as he won the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:59.51.

Mitchell Gauger piled up some important points for IUPUI in the two diving events, going uncontested. He notched a score of 258.40 in the one-meter dive and 260.15 in the three-meter dive.

IUPUI will return to action on Nov. 21 when the Jaguars host Eastern Illinois in a dual inside the Natatorium, beginning at 6:00 p.m..
