INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI swimming and diving teams honored their senior class on Friday night, dueling with St. Louis University at the IU Natatorium.  The Jaguars took seven individual wins, led by senior Justin Shaw, who had two wins on the night.

St. Louis won both duals, with the men winning, 114-91, and the women winning by a 139.5-65.5 margin.

The Jaguars, though, displayed the form they will need at The Summit League Championships, which begin Feb. 18 at the IU Natatorium.  Shaw and Tyler McGowan each won two events for the Jags, with Shaw sweeping the freestyle sprints.

The Whiteland, Ind.-native posted a 21.98 in the 50 free before winning the 100 free in 48.81.  Shaw beat his closest competitor, fellow senior Ben Smith, by over a second in the 100.

McGowan took first place in both the 500 free and the 200 IM; he cruised to the win in the 500 in 4:59.53, breaking the five-minute mark for the first time this season.  In the 200 IM, he narrowly won in 2:02.16, outtouching his competition by .68 second.

As he has all season, Michael Steurer was the class of the backstrokers, winning the 100 back in 54.03.  The Jasper H.S.-product was the runner-up in the 200 free, as well.

On the women's side of the pool, both Carrie Ford and Elizabeth Bourgeois picked up individual victories for the Jags.

It was Bourgeois who picked up IUPUI's first individual win of the night, breaking two minutes in the 200 free and touching the wall in 1:59.61; the freshman won by over three seconds in the event.

Ford dominated the distance events, finishing second in the 1000 free and winning the 500 free in 5:27.55.

The Jaguars will be back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 30, when they travel to Charleston, Ill., for a dual with Eastern Illinois.  The meet will begin at 11 a.m. CT.
