LEXINGTON, Ky. - The IUPUI men's soccer team dropped its second straight game at the University of Kentucky Invitational on Sunday, falling to Louisville 2-0. Defenders
Derek Craig and
Michael Wignot were picked to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the event.
Louisville's Freddie Braun netted the game-winner in the 54th minute when he buried a drive from well outside the 18-yard box past IUPUI starting goalkeeper
Tyler Keever. It was Braun's second goal of the tournament. UL's Phil Edgington added insurance in the 78th minute when he settled a loose ball and put a shot inside the far post with 11:59 left.
Keever made two saves for the Jaguars and UL's Andre Boudreaux collected four stops in the shutout. It was the first time in three games that IUPUI had been blanked this season.
The game was played very evenly statistically as both sides attempted 11 shots, putting four on frame. Both teams were also whistled for 14 fouls, including three yellow cards each.
IUPUI (1-2) threatened early, getting quality scoring chances from both
Caleb Lindemann and
Nate Ohmer in the opening 10 minutes, but Louisville made an adjustment and took a 6-5 shot advantage into halftime.
IUPUI will look to snap its two-game skid against Cleveland State as part of a soccer doubleheader at Kuntz Stadium on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for approximately 7:00 p.m., following the women's match with Detroit. The contest is part of
Super Jaguars Weekend presented by Indiana Members Credit Union.
Friday's games will also be broadcast as part of the
IUPUI LIVE! webstream package, providing live video to viewers through the internet. In addition,
live stats will also be available on IUPUIJags.com.
