INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will open up its 2009 Summit League slate against defending champion UMKC on Saturday night at Kuntz Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m..

IUPUI (1-5-2) has struggled offensively in the early going this year, but has given strong defensive efforts against elite competition recently. On Wednesday, the Jaguars lost at No. 24 Ohio State 1-0 on a penalty kick in the 81st minute and four of IUPUI's five losses on the year have come by a single score. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Keever has a 1.41 goals against average and .778 save percentage having played every minute between the posts this season. Freshman Emile Garcia and sophomore Yogi Snider lead IUPUI with a goal and an assist each. 

UMKC (2-4-0) recently shutout No. 23 Drake 3-0 last Sunday, helping goalkeeper Ken Cooper earn Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors. Offensively, Bryan Perez and David Sarabia have three goals each for the 'Roos. 

UMKC leads the all-time series between the two schools, 8-4 overall although the Jaguars are 4-1 in the previous five meetings in Indianapolis.

That match will be preceded by an Indiana Youth Soccer 'Stars' Clinic, focused on passing. The camp will run from 6:00-6:45 and kids participating in the clinic will be admitted for free and their accompanying adult(s) will only be charged $2.
