INDIANAPOLIS -- After escaping with two road wins on their "Southern Swing," the IUPUI women's basketball team will celebrate the careers of Jernisha Cann and Brykeesha Tate prior to Saturday's game versus Oakland.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and fans bringing canned food to the game will receive a Summit League t-shirt while supplies last.

The senior night ceremonies are just part of a fun-filled night in The Jungle.  The women's basketball team will be taking part in the WBCA's Pink Zone efforts for the second straight year, in an effort to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.  Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game, and Pink Zone t-shirts will be available for $5, with proceeds going to the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Cance Center.  Representatives from the Simon Cancer Center will also be at the game, providing information about cancer prevention.

Additionally, The Summit League is promoting Saturday's game as IUPUI's "Food Fight" game.  Fans are encouraged to bring canned food products to The Jungle; the school that brings in the most canned food and/or cash donations will win The Summit League Food Fight Trophy.  The game is part of a league-wide initiative tied in with Students Team Up To Fight Hunger (STUFH).

As for the game itself, IUPUI (14-12, 9-6 Summit) is coming off of two straight thrilling road wins.  The Jaguars scored 11 points in 55 seconds to erase a nine-point deficit with 1:59 left to stun Oral Roberts, 62-57, last Saturday.  On Monday, IUPUI rallied late to sneak past Centenary, 57-55, at the Gold Dome.

The wins put the Jags into a position to rise as high as The Summit's third seed in The Summit League Tournament should they win their final three games.  Currently, IUPUI is fourth in The Summit, two games ahead of Western Illinois.

Oakland (20-5, 12-2 Summit) trails conference-leading South Dakota State by a single game with four remaining on their schedule.  The Grizzlies will bring a four-game winning streak to The Jungle, along with one of the country's most efficient offenses.  Four OU players are averaging 10 or more points per game, led by Summit League Preseason Player of the Year Jessica Pike, who is averaging 15.7 points per game.

The Jaguars will lean heavily on Julia Whitted and Cann, as they have all season.  Whitted averaged 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in IUPUI's two wins last weekend, while Cann had her league-leading 16th double-double of the year at Centenary.
