INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI's annual Senior Night will be in conjuction with The Summit League 'Food Fight' on Saturday night as the Jaguars host Oakland in The Jungle at 7:00 p.m.. Pregame coverage begins on XL 950 at 6:30 and the game can also be seen on the IUPUI LIVE! subscription service.

IUPUI (15-12, 8-8 Summit) will honor senior Gary Patterson before Saturday's game, along with senior cheerleader Jasmine Thomas and managers Nate Summers and Matt Whinrey. In addition, the Melvyn Garland Men's Basketball Award will also be distributed before tipoff.

Saturday's game is designated as The Summit League "Food Fight" night as part of a league-wide food drive initiative tied in with Students Team Up To Fight Hunger (STUFH). Fans bringing a canned good to Saturday's contest will receive a free IUPUI t-shirt while supplies last. All of the canned goods collected will benefit the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. The school that raises the most amount of food (measured in pounds) will be deemed the winner and receive The Summit League Food Fight trophy.

The game is also Favorite Professor Night as the IUPUI Athletics Department will recognize faculty and staff members, chosen as the favorites among student-athletes in all 14 sports. Over 80 academic personnel will be recognized during the annual celebration.

Patterson has been an important cog in the Jaguars attack throughout his three-year career, having totaled over 950 points, 200 assists and nearly 200 made threes. A year ago, he was named Second Team All-Summit League and was a member of the All-Newcomer Team in 2007. Among his most memorable performances was a 37-point night against Southern Utah last season when he sank 11 threes in 15 tries.

IUPUI cliniched a spot in the upcoming Summit League Tournament on Thursday after knocking off IPFW, 57-55. Junior Robert Glenn scored a game-high 19 points, including the game-winning basket with 7.7 seconds left. Opting against taking a timeout, IPFW was unable to get off a shot before the final horn on the ensuing possession.

Junior Jon Avery hit 8-of-10 shots and finished with a season-high 17 points and sophomore Leroy Nobles added 16. The rest of the IUPUI cast scored just five points on 1-of-13 shooting.

Oakland comes in with a 17-11 overall record and 10-5 mark in league play. The Golden Grizzlies won the earlier meeting between the two schools, 75-57 on Jan. 22. OU senior Erik Kangas scored 33 points and sank eight threes.
