Having dropped two of its past three outings to the top teams in The Summit, IUPUI (14-12, 7-8 Summit) looks for a season sweep of IPFW (10-15, 5-9) on Thursday. The Jaguars knocked off the Mastodons 84-57 on Jan. 24 thanks largely to 20 points each from
Robert Glenn and
Gary Patterson. Glenn has remained on a tear since then, scoring 20 points or more in five of his past seven games, averaging 19.0 points per during that span.
The 6-foot-7 JUCO-transfer enters the week ranked seventh in the country in field goal percentage, hitting 62.9 percent. IUPUI ranks 22nd nationally in that category, hitting 48 percent collectively.
Freshman
Alex Young has provided an offensive lift since returning to the starting lineup the past two games, netting 15.5 points and shooting 57.1 percent on the recent road trip. He remains the only Summit League freshman to be averaging double-digit scoring this season. Meanwhile Glenn tops Summit League newcomers by averaging 16.6 points per game in league play.
IUPUI leads the all-time series with IPFW 20-9 and has won seven straight against the 'Dons. IPFW is led by senior forward David Carson, who comes in averaging 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Ben Botts is the only other IPFW player averaging double-digits, checking in at 11.3 per. Head Coach Dane Fife's team ranks among the national leaders in three-point shooting, hitting 40.9 percent.
