NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The IUPUI basketball team will look to continue its strong start to the season when it treks up U.S. 31 to take on Notre Dame on Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip inside the Joyce Center. Scott McCauley (pbp) will call the action with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 7:15.

Notre Dame (8-1) was receiving votes in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls this week, fueled by a 90-72 shellacking of Central Florida on Saturday. Junior Tim Abromaitis led the way with a career-high 31 points in his first career start and  former BIG EAST Player of the Year, Luke Harangody, added 29 points.

IUPUI (7-2) was also impressive in a pair of victories last week including Saturday's 86-74 defeat of North Dakota State inside the Jungle. Senior Robert Glenn paced all scorers with 33 points and sophomore Alex Young tallied a career-high 23 in the win. Glenn scored 14 of IUPUI's final 21 points after the game was tied at 65 all with just under seven minutes left. Young scored 16 of his 23 in the first half, but energized the building with a pair of highlight reel dunks in the second half while the Jags fought off the hard charging Bison.

On Monday, Glenn was named The Summit League Player of the Week for the second time in a four-week stretch. He averaged a league best 27 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two wins and sank a career-high 15-of-16 free throws against NDSU on Saturday.

Wednesday's game marks the second-ever meeting between IUPUI and Notre Dame with the Irish winning the previous meeting, 89-45 on Nov. 18, 2002 in the second round of the Guardians Classic. Matt Carroll led ND with 26 points and Josh Murray was the lone Jaguar to tally double-digits, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

IUPUI is just 1-7 against the BIG EAST with the lone win coming a year ago at Seton Hall on Dec. 20. In that game, Leroy Nobles banked in a runner as time expired to send IUPUI to the 67-65 win. Young paced the Jags with 18 points and then-junior Billy Pettiford went for a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes work. The Jags never trailed in that contest and led by as many as 12 late in the first half.
