INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI basketball team hit 57 percent from the floor and put four players in double-digits as it carved up IU South Bend in a 92-56 win in The Jungle on Saturday afternoon. Senior Robert Glenn scored a game-high 24 and sophomore Christian Siakam notched the first IUPUI double-double of the season, finishing with a career-high 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

A lethargic start had IUPUI (8-3) leading by just one more than eight minutes in before the Jaguars seemingly landed the knockout blow with a 10-0 run, making it 29-18 at the 9:41 mark. Glenn did the bulk of the damage during the run, scoring a layup off a John Ashworth feed and later rebounding a teammate's missed free throw and converting that into a three-point play.

The lead ballooned to 48-29 by halftime as Siakam scored the Jags' final seven of the half. IUPUI shot 58 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Titans 23-13 before the break.

"I didn't necessarily like the energy we came out with, but Christian really gave us a lift in the first half. He's playing with more confidence and it gives me more confidence to put him in games," IUPUI Head Coach Ron Hunter said. "We came out flat, but some of the guys off the bench gave us that lift that we needed and I think that helped get Rob and Alex going. We're going to need them to continue to play like that during the conference."

With the win seemingly in hand, the starting unit opened the second half with a 15-2 run, forcing six IUSB (2-11) turnovers in the process. From there, the bench held serve, including getting 12 second half points from freshman sharpshooter Sean Esposito and two late buckets from junior Anthony Williams.

The reserves combined to hit 14-of-22 from the floor to outscore IUSB's bench, 35-7.

Of the starters, Glenn made his first eight field goal attempts of the game in his 10-of-13 shooting effort and sophomore Alex Young added 16 points before fouling out. Ashworth steadied the ship for most of the day, handing out a career-high nine assists against just one turnover.

"Rob's playing at a really high level right now," Hunter said. "He can really score the basketball in a number of different ways. He never really took over the game today, but at the end of the game, you look at the box score and he's got 24 points and seven rebounds.

"Ashworth just did what he does. He got everyone involved and put them in positions to make shots."

Indianapolis-native Terry Hill paced IUSB with 17 points and four rebounds.

IUPUI outrebounded the smaller Titans 40-27 and outscored them 48-18 in the paint.

"We wanted to control the game on the inside - that was one of our objectives coming in," Hunter said. "Aside from the first eight to 10 minutes, I thought we did that."

IUPUI now leads the all-time series with IUSB 11-1 and improved to 4-0 inside The Jungle this season. The four wins have come by more than 25 points per game.

"We've traditionally played well and home. Last year we didn't, but we've had a lot of success in this building," Hunter said. "Hopefully this place will be loud when Duquesne comes in next weekend. They're one of the best teams that's come in here in the past 10 years, so it should be a good game."

IUPUI will host the Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 with free audio and subscription video available via IUPUIJags.com. Scott McCauley (play-by-play) and IUPUI Hall of Famer Jared Lux (analyst) will call the action with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 6:45. Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
