St. Louis Dual Results
ST. LOUIS -- While the IUPUI divers were competing at the Hoosierland Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., over the weekend, the Jaguar swimmers were taking part in the nine-team Washington University Thanksgiving Invitational and a dual against St. Louis University.
In the diving well,
Chen Ni finished second on the platform, an event in which she finished fourth nationally her freshman season. Ni had a score of 322.20 to finish behind IU's Amy Korthauer, who posted a 388.95. Ni was 10th on the 1-meter board as well.
Mitchell Gauger was 11th on the 3-meter board, finishing with a score of 271.05, an increase of 12 points from his preliminary mark.
On Saturday, the IUPUI swimmers took part in the Washington University Thanksgiving Invitational, as the men were sixth of eight teams while the women were fifth of nine squads.
Natalie Jarrett picked up an eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke, finishing in just over a minute at 1:03.56. The sophomore followed it up with a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:09.87, just a second out of second place. Jarrett wrapped up the first day with a sixth-place result in the 200 breaststroke after touching the wall in 2:34.60.
Elizabeth Bourgeois continued the strong start to her collegiate career with a seventh-place finish in the 100 freestyle, closing in 29.07 to post a time of 56.51.
Carrie Ford and
Sara Smith both finished in the top eight in the 200 fly, going seventh and eighth with times of 2:20.35 and 2:20.43, respectively.
All four continued their strong performance the next day against St. Louis University, as Bourgeois finished first in the 50 free, sprinting to a time of 25.78. Bourgeois and Smith went two-three in the 100 fly, with Bourgeois finishing one second out of first place.
Jarrett was first and third in two individual events, first taking a third in the 100 back; she was first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:11.16.
Ford took second in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:34.65; the Bishop England H.S.-product was third in the 200 free in 2:08.14.

Holly Reed,
Katelyn Loscar and
Katlyn Huhn all added podium finishes for the Jaguars, who fell to the Billikens, 114-71.
On the men's side,
Tyler McGowan and
Michael Steurer went three-four in the 200 IM, finishing .10 of a second apart. McGowan posted a time of 2:02.34 to place just ahead of his teammate.
Steurer also posted a fourth-place finish in the 200 back, breaking the two-minute mark in 1:58.19. McGowan was fifth in the 200 fly, finishing just north of two minutes in 2:01.30.
24 hours after picking up points for IUPUI in the 50 free at the Wash-U Invitational,
Justin Shaw was third against SLU, finishing in 22.96, just a half-second out of first.
Just as they did the day before, McGowan and Steurer shone in the pool, as Steurer swept the 100 back and 200 IM, reaching the wall in 54.49 in the back and 2:03.98 in the medley. McGowan was second in three separate events - the 200 free, 100 fly, and 500 free.
In the 100 fly,
Josh Davis was third, touching the wall in 56.86.
Andrew Heideman picked up a runner-up result in the 100 breaststroke, finishing .77 second out of first place.
The IUPUI swimming and diving teams will be off over Thanksgiving before hosting a four-way dual against Western Illinois, Ball State and St. Louis on Dec. 5. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. from the IU Natatorium.
