DES MOINES, Iowa - The IUPUI basketball team will open up its 2009-10 campaign on the road when it takes on Drake inside the Knapp Center (7,002) on Saturday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. EST (1:05 CST). The game is the opening round of the Glenn Wilkes Classic which will conclude next weekend at the Ocean Arena in Daytona Beach, Fla..

IUPUI rolled to a pair of exhibition wins last week, averaging over 90 points per game in victories over Anderson and St. Joseph's College. Senior Robert Glenn and sophomore Alex Young paced IUPUI with both averaging 20.5 points per game in the two contests. Glenn also chipped in a team-high 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game and shot 72 percent from the floor.

The IUPUI frontline, keyed by Glenn, Jon Avery and Billy Pettiford scored at least 50 points in the paint in both games. Glenn, Young and Pettiford will most likely be joined in the starting lineup by John Ashworth and Leroy Nobles in the backcourt.

Ashworth has taken over the starting point guard role entering this season including handing out a team-high nine assists in the exhibition opener. Freshman Greg Rice saw extended playing time at the point against SJC, chipping in four points and four assists in that victory.

Saturday's game marks the first-ever meeting between IUPUI and Drake on the hardwood and the Jags are just 3-6 all-time against schools from the Missouri Valley Conference. Head Coach Ron Hunter enters this season one win shy of 250 for his career and is fourth among The Summit League's all-time list in wins and league wins.

Live audio will be available via the web as Scott McCauley (play-by-play) enters his fourth season calling the action. This year will be his first season as the lead voice of IUPUI basketball.
