CHARLESTON, Ill.  -- In their penultimate meet of the 2008-09 season, the IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a dual against Eastern Illinois.  The Jaguar men fell, 176-86, while the women lost, 166-87, Saturday afternoon at the Ray Padovan Pool.

On a day designed to "Paint the Pool Pink," both teams worked to raise money for Komen for the Cure, as the swimmers, crowd and pool flags were all pink.

In the water, the Jaguars took 23 podiums in the meet, 14 on the men's side and 9 on the women's.

Michael Steurer led the way for the Jaguar men, recording two first-place finishes in sweeping the backstroke events.  Swimming the 100 back, Steurer hit the wall in 54.83, besting his competition by just over 0.8 seconds.  11 events later, Steurer won the 200 back, winning by over 1.5 seconds in 1:57.75.

Tyler McGowan was the other men's swimmer to take first place in an individual event, winning the 200 butterfly.  The junior cruised to the win in 1:58.55, as he was the only swimmer in the event to break 2:00.

On the women's side of the pool, Alexandra McCreight was the lone winner, taking the 200 butterfly.  McCreight posted a time of 2:16.72, winning by over 1 second.

The Jaguars will close out the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 31, when they host St. Louis University at the IU Natatorium.  The meet will begin at 3 p.m..
