BROOKINGS, S.D. - Host South Dakota State shot a blistering 61.5 percent from the field and hit 12 treys on its way to an easy 83-63 win over IUPUI on Saturday night in front of 3,503 fans at Frost Arena. The 83 points allowed were the most by an IUPUI opponent this season while the 20-point defeat was the largest losing margin since the finale of the 2006-07 campaign.

SDSU's Garrett Callahan made 9-of-13 shots, including 5-of-9 threes, to lead four Jackrabbits in double-digits with 23 points. Kai Williams scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half as IUPUI (9-7, 2-3 Summit) was unable to get any closer than 12 points after halftime.

Junior Robert Glenn led IUPUI with 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Gary Patterson scored 17. Freshman Alex Young added 10 points in his first game off the bench this season.

The Jaguars shot just 38 percent in the first half as the Jackrabbits missed just eight first half shots on their way to a 41-25 halftime lead.

"We just got beat tonight," IUPUI Head Coach Ron Hunter said. "No rhyme, no reason, but they were just better from the opening tip. We've got a lot of work to do, obviously. It doesn't feel good, where we're at right now.

"I guess if there is a silver lining, it's that we're heading home and we play again on Thursday."

South Dakota State (8-10, 3-3) made eight of its first 11 shots to break out to a 19-12 lead midway through the first half. IUPUI climbed back within five on a Glenn layup, but the Jaguars' leading scorer during league play picked up his second foul with over 10 minutes left before intermission. As he sat on the bench, SDSU reeled off nine straight points over the next five minutes until Young broke the run with a driving layup.

IUPUI tried to chip away early in the second half, pulling within 12 on three different occasions, but the hosts always provided an answer. Patterson swished a three with 12:55 remaining to make it 55-43, but the Jacks outscored IUPUI 17-2 to put the game away.

SDSU closed the night by hitting 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from three and handed out 21 assists against just nine turnovers. Sophomore pivot Anthony Cordova delivered a game-high five assists to accompany his 13 points.

IUPUI was harassed into 13 miscues as SDSU outscored the Jagaurs 17-9 off turnovers. Patterson led IUPUI with four turnovers and Glenn and Billy Pettiford grabbed five rebounds apiece. The Jaguars outrebounded the victors 28-24 overall and 12-5 off the offensive glass.

Sophomore Adrian Moss provided a semblance of a bright spot off the bench, contributing seven points and three assists in his second game back from injury. The 5-foot-9 lefty hit 3-of-5 shots and added a steal in 16 minutes.

The loss dropped the Jaguars into seventh-place in The Summit League standings.

IUPUI will now return home for a critical two-game Summit League homestand, beginning with Oral Roberts on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from The Jungle with XL 950's pregame coverage starting at 6:30.
