INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team and Head Coach Chris Johnson announced its postseason award winners at the program's annual banquet at Judge's BBQ on Saturday evening. Senior
Lisa Gebhard was named the team's Defensive MVP while fellow senior
Sheri Levack was selected as Offensive MVP.
Sophomore
Lisa Kruse rounded out the honors by earning the team's Coach's Award.
Gebhard, a four-year starter at defensive back, wrapped up her college career by being named Second Team Academic All-District in 2007. She was a two-time Second Team All-Conference pick and helped the Jags post a 1.65 goals against average this past season. Additionally, she attempted 10 shots and put three on frame from her defensive position.
She, Levack and sophomore goalkeeper
Jamie Farrell were the only three players on the team to start in all 18 matches.
Levack led the team in assists (4) and points (10), while tying for second with three goals scored. A four-year starter in the midfield, she closed her career with a program-best 15 assists. She was named Second Team All-Summit League in 2007 and like Gebhard, was named Second Team Academic All-District this past season. She was also voted IUPUI's Female Student-Athlete of the Month for August/September this past season.
Kruse earned the program's Coach's Award after playing in 17 matches and making one start this past season. In 2007, she elevated her play to become an important reserve, both as an attacker and in the midfield. Additionally, Kruse, a biology major in the School of Science, carried a 3.92 cumulative grade point average.
IUPUI went 3-12-3 this past season and will have eight starters returning in 2008.
