INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Jaguars put a trio of winning streaks on the line on Saturday night when they host Western Illinois inside The Jungle for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. The contest is The Summit League opener for both teams.
IUPUI (5-2, 0-0) has won four straight since opening the season 1-2 and also holds the nation's eighth longest home winning streak with 19 consecutive victories. In addition, IUPUI has won 19-in-a-row over Western Illinois (2-5, 0-0) and is 11-0 all-time in Indianapolis against the Leathernecks.
The Jaguars are coming off an easy 84-59 win over IU South Bend on Tuesday night as junior
Robert Glenn posted his first-ever double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman
Alex Young led four Jaguars in double-figures with 16 points and
Jon Avery pumped in 15 points in 14 minutes off the bench.
Since
Gary Patterson's return to the lineup, the Jaguars are averaging 80 points per game and shooting an efficient 54 percent from the floor. Patterson is netting 13.5 points and 6.0 assists per game and has hit 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
Defensively, IUPUI leads The Summit League in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense.
