INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Jaguars return home to continue Summit League play by hosting UMKC in The Jungle on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.. The contest marks the first time IUPUI has ever played on New Year's Eve in the program's 37-year history.

Pregame coverage on XL 950 begins at 12:30 with Greg Rakestraw calling the action.

IUPUI (7-5, 0-1 Summit) is seeking to climb back to .500 in The Summit after an earlier loss to Western Illinois. Since that defeat, Head Coach Ron Hunter's team has claimed wins over Seton Hall and Indiana State and took nationally ranked Arizona State to overtime in Phoenix. UMKC (5-10, 1-1 Summit) has dropped four of its past five contests including a 77-71 loss to SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday.

The 'Roos are led by reigning Summit League Player of the Week Dane Brumagin, who comes in scoring 18.3 points a game and last week's conference honoree Spencer Johnson. Johnson is UMKC's second leading scorer and top rebounder.

The Jaguars are paced by freshman Alex Young, who leads all Summit League freshmen at 15.3 points per game. The 6-foot-5 rookie is threatening to become the first frosh to lead IUPUI in scoring since 1992. Young has scored in double-digits in eight straight games including a team-high 19 points at UMass this past weekend.

IUPUI commited 15 turnovers leading to 17 UMass points in a 64-57 defeat in Amherst on Saturday. Junior Jon Avery hit 5-of-7 shots en route to 13 points and seven rebounds and Robert Glenn added 10 points and three blocked shots off the bench. IUPUI cut the UMass leads to one on three separate occasions in the second half, but was unable to get over the hump.

The Jaguars defeated the Minutemen 89-77 on Dec. 1 last season.

IUPUI leads the all-time series with UMKC 13-12 and 13-10 at the NCAA Division I level. Hunter's team has won six of the past seven meetings between the two schools.
