INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Jaguars will return home to host in-state rival Indiana State on Tuesday afternoon at Conseco Fieldhouse at 1:00 p.m.. The two schools haven't met since 2001 as the all-time series is tied at 1-1. Tuesday's game marks IUPUI's second home game at Conseco this season as the Jaguars defeated Eastern Illinois 67-60 on Nov. 25.
The Jaguars are fresh off their biggest win of the 2008-09 season after upsetting Seton Hall, 67-65 on Saturday night. Sophomore
Leroy Nobles banked home the game-winning layup as time expried, giving IUPUI its first-ever win against a BIG EAST school. Freshman
Alex Young scored 18 points to lead the Jaguars and junior
Billy Pettiford recorded his fourth career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Young currently leads all Summit League freshmen in scoring at 15.0 points per game.
IUPUI built a 12-point first half lead and held on down the stretch despite a furious SHU rally. The host Pirates hit two threes in the final minute and benefited from three IUPUI misses at the charity stripe, but Nobles came to the rescue by scoring IUPUI's final four points of the game.
