INDIANAPOLIS - With both the IUPUI men's and women's basketball teams coming off impressive victories on Wednesday night, the Jaguars will host Southern Utah on Saturday night in a Mid-Con doubleheader.
The women's game with the Thunderbirds will tip at 4:30 with the men's to follow at 7:00 p.m..
The IUPUI women's team pulled back to .500 at 6-6 with a 62-54 win over Butler in The Jungle. It was IUPUI's first win over Butler in over 20 years as senior Erin Guy scored a career-high 16 points. Senior Kia Hayes led the Jags with 17 points.
The men's team needed some late heroics from junior Brandon Cameron and Brandon Cole to pull out an 82-81 win at Oakland.
The Jags trailed 74-64 with 4:35 left, but the aforementioned duo scored 15 of IUPUI's 18 points down the stretch to up IUPUI's record to 7-6 overall and 2-0 in Mid-Con play. Cameron sank both ends of a one-and-one situation with 3.6 seconds left to give IUPUI the win.
Cole, who had been held to just seven points in the game's first 38+ minutes, drilled back-to-back treys to even the score with under a minute to play. Cameron finished with a career-high 21 points and eight assists while George Hill had 22 before leaving with a knee injury.
Junior point guard David Barlow also added a career-high 16 points.
