ROCHESTER, Mich. - Fresh off its best showing of the 2005-06 season, the IUPUI basketball team travels to Oakland (5-8, 0-1 Mid-Con) to face the Golden Grizzlies on Fox Sports Net. The game will be televised in the Indianapolis market on Fox Sports Midwest as Fred McLeod and Lindsey Hunter will have the call.
Game time is scheduled for 7:00 on Wednesday, Jan. 4th from the Athletics Center O'Rena in Rochester, Michigan.
IUPUI opened Mid-Con play last Friday with a resounding 87-63 win over Chicago State in The Jungle. Sophomore George Hill had 28 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals and was chosen the Mid-Con Player of the Week. Senior Brandon Cole chipped in 21 points and seven rebounds as the Jags shot a season-best 52.5 percent from the floor.
Head coach Ron Hunter's squad hit seven of its 11 threes in the first half and raced out to a 47-20 halftime advantage. The lead swelled as high as 38 with 12:01 to play as the Jags cruised in the second half.
Royce Parran led Chicago State with 18 points.
With the win, IUPUI pulled back to .500 at 6-6 overall and 1-0 in Mid-Con play.
Oakland is coming off a 95-64 loss at Valparaiso on Monday night and boast the league's top scorer. Calvin Wooten, a 6-foot-1 transfer from Rutgers University, enters play averaging 21.2 points per contest.
